Always start High with your loads and reduce the charge to achieve the desired function in your particular AK. I have shot most loads out of this rifle but cannot get consistent data from the worn barrel.įunction and FPS depends on your particular rifle. My loads out of the full-sized AK with 16in barrel had to be reduced slightly. 950-980FPS is where I like to keep mine for ultimate quiet but not all loads function properly at that speed. I live about 350ft above sea level and at 1060fps I get a supersonic crack. I tend to push mine a bit slower to achieve a quieter sound generally around 950-1000FPS. Cycling will depend on your particular firearm but the 110gn does not cycle at all and the 180gn round nose will give me feeding issues. All projectiles will stabilize with this charge as well and none will travel less than 900 fps. I have found that a safe charge of 11gn of IMR 4227 will Push ANY weight projectile I have listed subsonic out of the Draco SBR. 250 into the neck of the caseĬases have a modified flash hole opened up to a #40 drill bit at. If you plan to load any type of ammo make sure you have sufficient knowledge and skill to do so competently. I am not responsible for any injuries or damage to you or your equipment. You endanger yourself, your firearm, and your suppressor while doing so. Reloading is extremely dangerous especially when loading subsonic ammo. This is strictly my own findings and I DO NOT encourage anyone to try and use any of the data I am going to list in this thread.

Please feel free to list your Firearm, barrel length, suppressor type, and load data.įirst off this is NOT a guide or how-to. Also if other members would like to share their info and experience don't be shy. I currently do not have any pictures of group sizes from past experiments but I will do some shortly and post them here for members to see. For now, I am generally listing info and not specific load data because of the many variables concerning the subject.

So I will continually update this thread as I come up with new loads and range reports. I have had some members ask previously to post my load data. Sometimes in some calibers, this has led a very minor adjustment in the load used.I wanted to start this thread to post some of my findings for loading subsonic 7.62x39. Also, since I have noticed that different bullets of the same weight sometimes have a different distance from the crimp groove to the base of the bullet, and will thus sit at different depths in cartridge case, I use the formula to double check my loading if I am suddenly using a different bullet. 30-06 where I could not find published data for a specific weight bullet. I've used this method from everything from. They claim this will work for any caliber so long as the bullet used is within the normal range of bullets used for the cartridge in question. Find something between the 70 and 100 percent amount and you'll do well. 70% of the maximum load by weight is your minimum/starting load. This is your MAXIMUM load for the bullet in question in that caliber. Basically just enough that the powder will touch the bottom of the bullet with NO compression. Fill the case with Trailboss to this level. Take a cartridge case, any cartridge case and figure out how deeply the bullet will sit in the case once the cartridge is assembled. The 70% formula for Trailboss is very simple. 1 grains of weight can make a lot of difference in volume. All loads were developed using the "70% formula" as a reference. It also takes slightly more powder because this bullet does not sit as deeply in the case as the above. The hollow base in the smaller bullets will cause them to expand and engage the rifling. 360" bullet in the case, it actually bulges the case a little to the point where the rounds will not chamber. (Using Winchester Nickel and other undersized brass. (This is my Standard Load for smokeless in this caliber.

It worked well in smokeless capable pocket pistols with short barrels, but got stuck in a longer barreled full size revolver.) So much so that I don't really use it anymore. Does anyone load 38s&w with trail boss? What's your load data? Thanks!
